Dawn Batson B.Sc., M.A., Ph.D. in music
Dawn was born to a musical family and has been involved with and in Caribbean culture from Best Village Group to the Steelpan (her first love). Over the years she has been involved with the cultural arts movement as performer, arranger, conductor, teacher, judge, composer, musical director and producer. She has toured Europe and North America and participated in international events such as Sports Aid and organizing the steelband portion for Quincy Jones/David Salzman Productions for the gala concert for the heads of state at the Summit of the Americas. Dawn co-ordinated two international expositions on the Steelband, Pan into the 21st Century 1 and 11, held at the North-South Centre of the University of Miami in April 1994 and 1995. Her goal is to promote the culture of T & T internationally and show the possibilities of using culture as an economic force for national development. |
